Does it hurt?
According to our patients, it is surprisingly comfortable and pain free. This is thanks to the fact that the fluid is mixed with local anaesthesia, so the area is numbed. Most people report afterwards that the area looks sore; however, the vast majority of people do not report any pain.
Will I go numb?
No, you will not go numb, apart from during the procedure as the active ingredient is mixed with local anaesthetic.
Can I wear makeup afterwards?
Yes, you can wear makeup Immediately after treatment - you can apply a surgical makeup if desired, which we have available in the clinic. You can also apply regular makeup from the next day.
How long will it take to start working?
It will start to take effect immediately though there is significant swelling for the first week or so. Some report that their swelling does not completely disappear for around three weeks post treatment. This is all part of the process, and is to be expected. There is no way to speed up this process, and in fact this inflammation helps to give the best results, by causing tissue contraction.
Can I go to work afterwards?
Some patients do not choose to return to work afterwards, especially if the treated area is the underchin. However, others are largely unaffected by their treatment, bar slight discomfort, but the treatment, if on the body, is largely hidden. Many patients, therefore, opt to have this procedure performed just before the weekend, so they have a couple of days’ downtime before returning to work. You might not feel like exercising for a week after the procedure if the neck has been treated, but this does vary from person to person.
