Crepey Skin and How To Treat It

krskandola9

Approaching middle age, some people notice that they have begun to develop “crepey skin.” This is characterised by skin that appears thin, loose, and finely creased, similar to the appearance of crepe paper. This often happens to the skin on the face, especially on the upper and lower eyelids, upper lips, neck, chest, and even the tops of the hands.

This can be attributed to part of the aging process,, however, crepey skin can also be caused by other factors, such as sun damage, dehydration, lifestyle factors, and even certain medications.Fortunately, there are ways to both prevent and treat this condition.

LIFESTYLE PREVENTIONS

-Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and keeping your skin moisturised and avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

-Don’t smoke as smoking can reduce your body’s oxygen supply and dry out your skin.

-Always wear sunscreen outdoors, including on your neck, chest, and hands. Stay in the shade when you can.

-Try reducing stress and get enough sleep.

-Eat a balanced diet full of antioxidants, vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids.

SKIN TREATMENTS

DERMAL FILLERS

Fillers are a very effective treatment for crepey skin. The filler is injected into the skin and has a volumising effect on the skin and yet remains a relatively non-invasive treatment.

PROFHILO

This is not a filler, but a HA (Hyaluronic Acid) gel, which bio-remodels your skin to treat its laxity.

It is intended for tissue remodelling, improvement in skin laxity in the face, neck and body. It is a temporary treatment and the Hyaluronic acid is completely broken down within the skin leaving no trace. It helps to get rid of crepey skin by hydrating it from inside out and extremely effective.

PRP/VAMPIRE FACELIFT

PRP stands for ‘Platelet Rich Plasma’ and it helps to improve your skin's texture, thickness and luminosity. Platelet Rich Plasma uses the healing properties of your own platelets (taken from a small sample of your blood), to stimulate cellular rejuvenation and improve the skin’s texture and elasticity. This is great for thin crepey skin, especially around the eyes, neck, décolletage, full face and hands. The treatment itself takes about an hour and involves a course of treatments (3-4) spaced 1 month apart.

SKIN BOOSTERS/MESOTHERAPY

This involves injecting tiny micro-droplets of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other skin hydrating products under the skins surface, to give your skin a healthy, radiant glow that can last for months. This is an excellent treatment to refresh, rejuvenate and brighten up tired, dull or crepey looking skin

PDO MICRO THREADS AND LIFTING THREADS

If you have a little sagging skin, it is recommended that you try a PDO Thread Lift to help lift and tighten the problem areas. This non-surgical, minimally invasive facelift can help correct loose, drooping skin around the face and neck. This technique uses absorbable threads, which create an inflammatory response that triggers new collagen production and fibrosis, which in turn, tightens the tissue. This can also be used in conjunction with other skin treatments for superior results.
