Are 'Liquid' Facelifts Better Than Surgical Facelifts?

What is a Liquid Facelift?

A liquid facelift is a combination of precisely placed fully reversible hyaluronic acid dermal fillers (such as Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero and more) and Botox (to specific muscles of the lower face and neck). This results in a facelift effect without the need for anesthesia or surgery, with the results being instantaneous. My patients are frequently surprised and even emotional at the amazing results we can achieve, and this is something I have always really enjoyed seeing over the years.

There are many potential areas that benefit from subtle enhancement as we age. Key areas would be the cheek, jaw, under eye area and midface.

Who is this treatment for?

A liquid facelift is well suited for people who have noticed a slackening of tissue in the cheek and jowl area; and whether this is mild or more well established, I can definitely provide a non-surgical option that will quickly and safely ensure a natural, fresh yet striking finish. As a trainer of other Doctors in this procedure, I have seen a vast array of patients and faces, and there is always scope for small yet noticeable tweaks to be made.

How long does a ‘liquid’ facelift last?

The good results are present for 12-24 months. After the first treatment I recommend a biannual check up where we can add smaller amounts to that which has been done already, thus building on the good foundations we have laid and ensuring an ongoing and improving result that will last years.

Wouldn’t surgery be better?

There are benefits to a surgical facelift and it is my job to give realistic and medically backed guidance on the best route for each patient to achieve what they want. It is a balance between whether surgical intervention is necessary and would truly benefit you as it is not a decision to be taken lightly due to the presence of significant risks (a surgical facelift’s recovery includes swelling, significant pain, 4 - 8 weeks of downtime, and the possibility of scarring that is noticeable for up to several years).

Is a Liquid Facelift for me?
